My favorite part of thanksgiving....
the Macy's day parade getting Rick Rolled. My second favorite part, catching my mom humming the song days after...

This reminds me of...
the legitimate fight Jesse and I had over sharing chicken nuggets. I was the victim, by the way.

Try a little tenderness.
I remember the first time I ever listened to song lyrics (in a poetic way) - it was to 10,000 Maniac's song, "Eden", when I was around 12 or 13.
Since some of my biggest critics and saying this is too much of a VLOG (video blog), so I thought I would post a little tenderness.
We are the roses in the garden,
beauty with thorns among our leaves.
To pick a rose you ask your hands to bleed.
What is the reason for having roses
when your blood is shed carelessly?
It must be for something more than vanity.
Believe me, the truth is we're not honest,
not the people that we dream.
We're not as close as we could be.
Willing to grow but rains are shallow.
Barren and wind-scattered seed on stone and dry land,
we will be.
Waiting for the light arisen
to flood inside the prison.
And in that time kind words
alone will teach us,
no bitterness will reach us.
Reason will be guided another way.
All in time,
but the clock is another demon that
devours our time in Eden,
in our Paradise.
Will our eyes see well beneath us,
flowers all divine?
Is there still time?
If we wake and discover
in life a precious love,
will that waking become more heavenly?

Apologies
The author of this blog offers her condolences regarding the lack of postings. She is currently undergoing a mental breakdown (thanks nursing school and its affiliates) and will be back once this fall quarter is completed.
In the meantime, enjoy my favorite 2008 election memory:
Doesn't this teacher deserve a raise??

I've already said this 10 times this morning
THE STUDENT NURSE'S PRAYER
Lord: I know we go through this every day
but please give me the knowledge
as to why I actually wanted to go to nursing school.
Lord, give me the strength to make it through
those boring three hour lectures without falling asleep.
Lord, please give me the patience
to make it through twelve hour clinicals with instructors
that can't just give you the right answer
and on the same note,
give the nurses the ability to remember
what it was like to be a student
and give us just a little more respect.
Lord, give me the endurance to read all the assigned readings
and be able to remember it when I am taking a test
with four right answers.
Lord, give my family and friends
the ability to realize I really am on the edge of insanity.
Finally, Lord, give me the vision to see that one day
I will be a real nurse
and I will never have to wear this ugly uniform again.

Political message - BEWARE
During this campaign, I have heard multiple times, the standard saying, that "Liberals are idealists." In some respect, I agree. Liberals may have the notion that progress and equality in this country is totally achievable, while conservatives may think that, realistically, there are only so many "pieces of the pie" and that some people are going to be left out.
Because I am more of a realist, borderline pessimist, I always felt uncomfortable being called an idealist (being a liberal), because it did not fit into my personal schema.
I have always believed that through the years, people will, on the whole, remain the same. Their personality and lifestyle may be tweaked a little bit, but unless devastation strikes, they will probably remain the same person they were the day they were born.
I believe the conservative belief of upward mobility (the ability to move from a lower social class to a higher one, through hard work) is completely unrealistic, and QUITE idealistic on an indivudual level. Sad to say, but the lifestyle you are born into is probably the one you will be in for the rest of your life.
We are bombarded by celebrities like Oprah, who started off dirt poor, and now is one of the richest people in the world. While her story of hard work and dedication to her goals is heart warming and inspiring, it is safe to say that it is pretty much impossible for the rest of us. Sure, there are those great stories of people starting off small and working hard for their dreams, but in reality, and in this country, it's pure fiction.
Working hard might bring you satisfaction, food on the table, and the roof over your family's head, but the belief that working hard will allow all your dreams to come true, is truly idealistic.
This was just on my mind while I was blow drying my hair.
